Remembering 9-11

Remembering those fallen heros who lost their lives on 9-11.

Where were you on that day? I was living in New York at the time & let me tell ya ... it was really scary not knowing if the persons responsible for the towers coming down were going to try and bring planes down on our military base.

I can remember I had just finished cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast & the kids were sitting down to start their school work. Nothing major ... they were in pre-k & kindergarten. My husband slings the door open with a paniced look on his face & says do you even know what's going on? Well, duh ... I guess I don't. I think he's making a joke cause he is a bit of a prankster! He runs over to the TV & says does it look like I'm kidding now. Every channel we turned to was the re-run of the planes taking out the twin towers. I was scared beyond belief ... I was living in the same state where this event had taken place ... were those people coming to kill me as well? Was it an accident? I had so many questions running through my head.  My DH is a soldier, will he be taken from me to fight off this evil? We bolted the doors shut & clung to each other for a few minutes trying to wrap our brains around the sight we were witnessing. Thankfully we didn't know anyone who passed away.

Our hearts & prayers go out to all who lost loved ones on that horrific day. I know not everyone agrees with this war so I won't go into a lengthy soap box speech on why it's important that we are. I'll just say this ... it's far better to have our soldiers fighting on their turf then to have our enemies on our land killing our women & children. I know how terrible it is to have our soldiers dying but in the end ... it's their job, their choice & I guarentee you this ... they wouldn't want it any other way. Pray for the soldiers who fight for your freedom, who spill their blood to make for sure it's harder for terrorist to come into our country for no other purpose then to spill the blood of Americans. Pray for our J-land friend April whose husband Doug is about to go on his 7th tour to fight for YOU!!!

Excellent tribute and memory entry to this day!!!!!!  I agree with all you have written about the war and why we are fighting... so our children can be safe.  It is a tragic situation and so hard that we are losing people but I agree, we need to do something.  Thank you for being brave and sharing your thoughts... it sure was an awful moment for us all.  Our lives and many others were impacted terribly.
